The TAP Command Plate is a great visual tool for the pitcher. The brightly colored surface provides the pitcher excellent focal points to pitch to and makes it easier to see where the ball crosses the plate. The colors of the TAP Command Plate aids communication about pitch location between pitcher, catcher, and coach.
This training aid measures 23"X17"--which is 6" wider than a standard plate. Three additional inches on the inside and outside of the plate reinforces the concept that any part of a ball touching the edge of the plate is a strike. The importance of staying out of the middle is reinforced by the printed quote attributed to Dan Quisenberry: "The middle of the plate is where offensive history is written."
Designed for indoor use, this throw-down plate is portable and convenient to use. Catchers will appreciate the low profile of the plate and the reduction of "bad bounces" resulting from balls hitting the edge of the plate.
