TorsoBurner™

The TorsoBurner™ is an excellent tool for training through the complex Dynamic System Theory approach.  Considered the core piece of the SpeedChain™ family, It  forces the athlete to constantly redirect movement which causes the agonist and antagonist muscles to continuously reverse roles against varying resistance. These small counter movements result in less muscle slack and leads to superior performance in sports requiring action under time pressure.  This constant change is extremely important for athletes that must respond to the chaotic nature of their sport in a moment’s notice.  The very nature of TorsoBurner exercises allow the athlete to overcome muscle imbalances aiding in the prevention of injury and leading to an overall healthier athlete.

An amazing tool for increasing rotational strength and full body power, the TorsoBurner uses the variable and dynamic resistance of two custom manufactured chains to strengthen and stabilize. The TorsoBurner™ handle bar is gripped with both hands and attached to two Universal SpeedChain™ Segments. The initial chain links of the Universal SpeedChain™ Segments attached to the handle bar are small/lightweight and increase in size/mass as the chain links progress away from the handle bar; this construction allows the large chain links at the end to serve as movable ballast for the SpeedChains™ during exercises.  The design of the device provide  for movement patterns that allow the muscles to fire faster and with more power,  which translates into faster and more powerful athletic movements. 

The TorsoBurner™ allows the athlete to accelerate immediately from a stopped position with minimal resistance to top speed against the increasing resistance of the SpeedChains™. Then, at the end of the movement pattern the direction is reversed working against the moving chains and their increasing resistance. These movement patterns typically are timed to last no more than eight seconds to insure the exercise stays within the ATP energy system. This forced movement against the unique and continuous resistance of the SpeedChains™ is an efficient method for developing more torque, quicker pivots and better lateral movements.

The flexibility of the TorsoBurner™ design  allow for training many athletic movement patterns facilitating blending and the transfer of efficient sport  specific movement patterns.  The device offers the athlete an opportunity to modify exercises to promote differential learning and prevent adaptation, i.e. doing an exercise movement while standing, sitting, kneeling, on one foot, on balance devices, while moving, etc.   The tools variability of the resistance allow for more exercise patterns providing opportunity for increased motivation and less exercise monotony.

Strong – Typically chosen by Entry Level and Senior Athletes.  Designed for any age athlete from adolescent to senior with below to average strength when compared to their peer group, having no physical constraints, and capable of vigorous exercise Intensity.  Sport Specific Selection Suggestions:

Baseball/Softball - Pitching Velocity: 60mph-75mph; Bat Speed: 45MPH- 75MPH
Golf – Club head speed under 90 MPH

X-Strong – Typically chosen by Varsity Level High School and College Athletes.  Designed for any age athlete from adolescent to adult with average strength when compared to their peer group, having no physical constraints, and capable of vigorous exercise Intensity.  Sport Specific Selection Suggestions:

Baseball/Softball - Pitching Velocity: 75mph-90mph; Bat Speed: 65MPH- 85MPH
Golf – Club head speed 90 MPH - 105 MPH
Tennis - Serve Speed 80 – 100 MPH; NTRP 4.0-5.5; Tournament Players

PRO - Typically chosen by College and Professional Athletes.  Designed for any age athlete from late adolescent to adult with average strength when compared to their peer group, having no physical constraints, and capable of vigorous exercise Intensity.  Sport Specific Selection Suggestions:

Muscularly mature athletes considered strong for their peer group, and athletes 6’4” and taller, should consider adding extensions to their selection.  Always waggle the SpeedChain™ through the anticipated full range of motion before beginning exercise; chain ends should never be allowed to come off the ground/floor or gather around the feet during exercises.

The TorsoBurner consist of a Handle Bar, Universal SpeedChain™ Segments and Chain Carrier.  Either or both of the Universal SpeedChain™ Segments used with the TorsoBurner™ can be used alternately with any of the other SpeedChain ™Sport Specific Quick-link Attachments.  All components of the TorsoBurner are available and can be purchased individually.


Leg SpeedChain™

The Leg SpeedChain™ is a tremendous training tool for increasing lower body strength, explosiveness, balance/symmetry, and mobility. It is a training aid that builds power in the lower half by utilizing multiple planes of movement through variable resistance.  The device causes the body to adapt to ever changing loads, lending itself to differential learning.

The Leg SpeedChain™ allows the body to self-organize and discover efficient movement patterns using the Dynamic Systems Theory, reinforcing the importance of coordination versus isolated strength. The exercises performed with the device are at high intensity, for short durations, utilizing the body’s ATP energy system.  It is a tool for training basic high velocity movement patterns, with balance and proprioception that can lead to faster sprint times, further/higher jumps, and ultimately greater overall power output from the lower body. The Leg SpeedChain™ has the freedom to accommodate many different stride lengths and lower half mechanics.

Training with the Leg SpeedChain™ offers the athlete an opportunity to train joint movement, muscle action, and energy production that can match virtually any sports related movements. It can be used on many different surfaces, environments, and conditions. Each variation provides cues that excite the tactile, auditory and visual senses reducing exercise monotony and boredom that can lead to reduced motivation.

The Leg SpeedChain™ is a custom constructed metal chain attached to a sturdy metal foot bracket with links that increase in size and weight as the distance from the bracket increases.    This design allows initial movements to be easier because smaller/lighter chain links move initially, with the movement pattern becoming increasingly difficult as the heavier distal chain links are involved.  This varying resistance provides an excellent underload/overload experience with movements that are general to lower body development.

The Leg SpeedChain™ may be purchased as a stand-alone training device with an included Universal SpeedChain™ Segment, or, purchased as an accessory to be used with one (or two) Universal SpeedChain™ segment from other devices.  Available in two sizes, the Leg SpeedChain™ can be used on either foot and generally fitted based on shoe sizes:  Medium – Shoe Size 7-12; Large – Shoe Size 12-17.   The following serves as a general guideline to aid in the proper Leg SpeedChain™ selection when purchasing as a stand-alone training device:

The Leg SpeedChain™ delivers resistance light enough to permit high acceleration and resistance heavy enough to increase strength.  This is accomplished by through variable weight loads, with different phases of a movement being weighted differently; the variable resistance challenges the athlete to move the volume of chain according to their strength.  The SpeedChain™ trains and supplies a means to develop stronger movements and joint actions using the larger chain links higher weights to train at higher levels of force.  

The Leg SpeedChain™, also sometimes called the 'Kicking Chain' is an outstanding general training implement that can be purchased as a stand-a-lone training tool consisting of a foot harness, One Universal SpeedChain™ Segment and Chain Carrier.  For an enhanced training experience consider the adding the TorsoBurner for a full body experience.  Either or both of the Universal SpeedChain™ Segments used with the TorsoBurner™ can be used alternately with Leg SpeedChain™ as well as the Golf or Tennis SpeedChain™ Sport Specific Quick-link Attachments.  All components are available and can be purchased individually.
